Tomorrow's Engineers EEP Robotics Challenge 2018
Congratulations to our S2 STEM students for their participation in the Tomorrow Engineers EEP Robotics Challenge.

This is the third year that the school has been involved in the event, which has changed significantly this year, in order to celebrate the anniversary of the Royal Air Force who are one of the main supporters.
In the challenge students must create a series of solutions to engineering problems through the programming of a LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robot. Students also have the opportunity to present their research on how robots can assist with humanitarian aid and help in times of need, learn about how chemicals can be used to determine blood types and also how to work as a team to construct a giant Meccano style wheelbarrow!
The following 6 S2 students formed our very own "Roboforce", steeled and ready to face the challenges ahead:
- Zachary Cuthbert
- Ewan Duncan
- Paul Early
- Seren Hesketh
- Lewis McConnadchie
- Cameron Taylor
The students represented Broxburn fantastically and were awarded the Teamwork Challenge in recognition of their determination and commitment when working together through the challenges. Both their sheer enthusiasm and individual personalities shone through, often leading to some rather entertaining situations. It was also a great opportunity to witness the brilliant designs from other groups, with schools in the local authority (Bathgate and St. Margarets Academy), who also received awards for their efforts. It is clear that everyone had a fabulous time and the inviting and friendly atmosphere definitely managed to bring out the best in our young people.
A massive thank you once again to our excellent students for proudly representing the school, the event organisers and sponsors who did an amazing job of managing and delivering the event and Miss Howard (RMPS) who kindly accompanied us on the trip to offer moral support, laughs and most importantly...tea!
We are eager to find out what is in store for next year and can be confident that our students will rise to the challenge once again. Roll on 2019!
